Fluke Networks’ AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer allowed Trusted Network Solutions’ team of engineers to quickly survey customer environments, identify any issues or rogue connectivity threats, and then devise a plan to either repair the broken parts of current systems, or analyze a better solution. Because of the instant reporting system, technicians were able to assess the environment in real time, with the client if needed. The more detailed reports and easy-to-understand data was useful in justifying new solution costs to hesitant customers.

Customer
Trusted Network Solutions is a network and services consulting firm in Salt Lake City, Utah, servicing hundreds of clients in a variety of fields including government, healthcare, education and small business. Their client base spans Utah, Idaho and Wyoming, making time efficiency, engineer availability and issue resolution matters of key importance.
Their clients’ productivity is highly dependent on well functioning networking systems that address a widely varying spectrum of wireless needs. With a small team and several large-scale customers, Trusted Network Solutions needed an accurate, effective way to diagnose issues, suggest solutions and gain new clientele.
Challenges
With clients spread across several states, technician time and proximity was a challenge for Trusted Network Solutions. Their previous system of analyzing wireless issues required a significant time investment and was still a hypothetical “shot in the dark” at pinpointing real problems, typically resulting in several rounds of solution implementation and re-testing.
“Our technicians are the most valuable assets our business has, so with our team strung across a large area, it was hard to determine how long developing a solution would take. Scheduling was difficult,” said Dustin Baker, Trusted Network Solutions’ Senior Systems Engineer. “We have hundreds of customers spanning a number of different verticals, so we really needed a simple solution that could address network issues for everyone from major hospitals to the shop down the street.”
In addition, justifying an expensive network upgrade or new network solution was sometimes difficult for the Trusted Network team. The complex WLAN environments and intricacies of a high-functioning network were hard to explain to customers.
“Many business owners don’t understand the process associated with making a wireless network function, and with our old procedures there was a possibility it could take several swings to get the solution right,” added Baker. “The resulting cost and uncertain resolution was a barrier to entry for many businesses on the smaller end of the spectrum. We needed a reporting system that would clearly explain the current faults and explain why the solution was needed.“
Solution
Trusted Network Solutions picked Fluke Networks’ AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer Pro to help negate some of the issues they were experiencing with their old tool set. By using the WiFi Analyzer, Trusted Network Solutions was able to quickly evaluate existing networks, find faults in the system or identify encroaching threats that were reducing signal strength.
“The AirMagnet WiFi Analyzer has streamlined our evaluation, reporting and sales process. We’re no longer relying on antiquated methods of getting our clients the information they need. Fluke Networks has developed a product that proves its worth on a day-to-day basis,” said Baker.
